The Theun-Hinboun Power Company Limited (THPC) and EDL Generation Public Company (EDL-Ge) have partnered to host a Charity Golf Tournament on January 25, 2025, at the Lao Country Club Golf Course. The event aims to raise funds for improving the infrastructure of schools in rural areas.
The tournament’s opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Phosay Sayasone, Minister of Energy and Mines, and attended by Bolikhamxay provincial Governor, members of the THPC Board of Directors and management. The event was also graced by various government officials, business leaders, and distinguished guests.
This initiative highlights the companies' ongoing commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in rural areas of Laos.
At the ceremony, Dr. Phosay Sayasone said that THPC is a leading company in hydropower business operation and having huge contribution in socio-economic development of the country and also emphasized the importance of community support and highlighted the positive impact such events have on local development. He also praised and commended THPC and EDL-Gen for initiating this effort in organizing the charity tournament since 2018 to support the education sector in Laos, particularly in improving the infrastructure of schools in rural areas.
The Charity Golf Tournament is an annual event aimed at raising funds for various charitable causes. The funds raised from the 2024 tournament were allocated to improve infrastructure at the Primary School in Ka Tang Ya Village, Houn District, Oudomxay Province.
This year, 162 golfers participated in the tournament, with each golfer contributing a registration fee of 1,500,000 Kip. This year, 256 million LAK are raised from the golfer registration and from the contribution of the contractors. All proceeds from the event, with no deductions for expenses, will be directed towards enhancing the infrastructure of schools in rural areas.
